Why use Tyre Warmers?
Tyre warmers ensure that you can heat the tires to the ideal operating temperature in advance. This temperature is normally between 80-85 degrees. The big advantage of this is that the tyres immediately provide sufficient grip at the start of the session. Another important advantage is that the tyre stays at temperature throughout the entire day, so the tyre only has 1 heat cycle. This means that the tyre only gets hot and cold once during the day. This increases the life of the tyre.
Benefits of Tyre Warmers
The use of tyre warmers means that you do not have to drive two laps to warm up the tyres, they last longer, provide immediate grip and therefore many times safer than warming them up on the track. Because the tyres are at the right temperature, there is less chance of the tyres breaking down, eating marks (cold tear) and so on.
By heating the tyres, often at least 60 minutes in advance, you can perfectly adjust the air pressure in the tyre. Always try to equalize the air pressure as accurately as possible with any air pressure that increases or decreases while driving. Use a tyre pressure gauge for this.
What types of Tire Warmers are there?
Tyre warmers come in many different shapes and sizes. First of all, it is very important to buy the right size. Too small will not heat the tyre properly, too large will cause the tyre to not heat properly and burn on the inside.
There are tyre warmers that have a fixed setting, and therefore heat to one temperature. The advantage of this is that you don't have to worry about it during the day. Tire pressure should be checked during the day! There are also versions that are digitally adjustable. The big advantage of this is that you can also use it for rain tires, for example, or to increase the temperature when it is warmer outside / on the track so that the temperature of the tire matches as much as possible.
